A daisy, hope and a Bible promise or two

Writer's picture: Andrea JoJoAndrea JoJo

Throughout this process, traumatic as it has been, with all the all the let downs from the hospital, we have had our faith to keep us positive. I always go back to my favourite Bible verse:

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "Plans to prosper you, and not to harm you. Plans for hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)

We know and believe this in our future. It's just a matter of time.

February 2018

I attended Ladies Day at my church where there was Bible studies, Worship and Fellowship with the ladies across the three sister churches. At the end of the day I asked my friend, her sister and her friend to pray for me and our situation.

During our prayer time together, her friend said she got a picture for me and that photograph was of a daisy. She wasn't sure if it meant a girl in our future would be called Daisy or if it meant something else.

After we had finished praying we googled the meaning of 'daisy' ...

"Daisies symbolise innocence and purity: The daisy came to symbolise childbirth, motherhood and new beginnings."

"The daisy is also the birth flower of April and means fertility and transformation."

So that was definitely a sign from God. Great my belief was true - this is MEANT to be for us.

Ladies Day 2019 - Spent a lot of the day helping to comfort and look after my friends baby - so she could lead worship. Part way through the day she gave me this message...

"I felt like God has prompted me to give you this silver ring of HOPE. Wear is as a reminder that He is your hope. We are always praying that your hearts desire will be here soon."

Watching the opening night from the Main Worship "Tent" towards the end of the talk the preacher encouraged people to pray to God and ask Him their questions. I had prayed many times before for this but never got an answer to prayer for myself, only through words and pictures off other people.

This was my prayer 🙏 ...

"Lord, you know I have prayed for this many times. Other people have prayed for me and heard words for me and been given pictures for me. I am asking tonight that you speak to ME. I want to hear your voice. I believe in your promise. Please give me a sign."

I waited a for a few minutes in the silence with only a guitar melody for company. Within a few minutes I got the feeling that God wanted me to read either Acts or Romans 9 or 10 and verses 9 or 10. So I looked them all up and here is what I found:

Acts 9:10 "The Lord called to him in a vision. "Yes Lord" he replied."

Romans 9:9-10 "For this was the how the promise was stated: "At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son." Not only that, but Rebekah's children were conceived at the same time by our father Isaac."

Romans 10:9-10 "If you declare with your mouth "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved. For it is with your heart you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."

Then I looked back as Romans was quoting from Genesis 18:10.

Genesis 18:10 "Then one of them said, "I will surely return to you about this time next year, and your wife Sarah will have a son."

Genesis 25:21-24 "Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was childless. The Lord answered his prayer and his wife Rebekah became pregnant... When the time came for her to give birth, there were twin boys in her womb."

I then went and did some Bible research myself. I never realised how many fertility issues there were in the Bible but "the patient will be blessed". Sarah and Abraham, Rebekah and Isaac, Rachel and Jacob ans Elizabeth the mother of the John the Baptist. All these women were mothers in older age. Then I found this passage on blessings in Deuteronomy.

Deuteronomy 28:2-4 "All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:

"You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. The fruit of your womb will be blessed."

I shared my prayer and the Bible verses with Nick and he interpreted it as "If we believe in our heart and trust in God (Romans 10:10) God gave us a vision, a promise (Acts9:10) and then he explained it (Romans 9:9-10)."

Wow what an unbelievable sign from God. He gave us a sign that confirmed the promise previously given. And He spoke to me clearly for the first time. Wow!

Praise God 🙌

Amen

I am also reminded of the lyrics of one of the songs we sang on our wedding day:

"Christ Alone,

Cornerstone,

Weak made strong,

In the saviour's love,

Through the storm,

He is Lord.

Lord of All."

(Hillsong Worship)
